Education: BA, MA, and soon to be DMA
It’s a funny story, really. After I got out of prison, I needed a car. I decided to apply for a student loan in order to get a truck. I took a few classes at San Jacinto Community College in my hometown of Pasadena, Texas. I then went on to finish my undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of the Arts in Music from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. My friends and family encouraged me to continue and pursue a Master’s. I graduated with a M.A. in 2010. I got married, and my wife and others said “why not go for the whole shebang?”. So here I am, at the tail end of my DMA.
If being able to turn my favorite Lil Troy and UGK rap songs into jazz covers isn’t the best return on investment of my student loans… I don’t know what is.
